The Vietnam War is one of the most critically discussed wars in history. The war caused worldwide political, economic and military aftermath. Even during the fighting the war had several effects on the US - American people. In reverse the US - population and the society’s opinion were relevant for the war, too. The happenings in Vietnam changed the Cold War atmosphere in the USA which was minted by a feeling of threat caused by a growing military might of the Soviet Union. To lose the war in Vietnam changed US foreign policy and US domestic policy. For the first time the US foreign policy and the US military policy had to wilt under pressure of the US domestic policy which came into being by the US population. After 25 years of Cold War the society became sceptical. Anti-war movements unmasked feigned threats as well as unjustifiably or exaggerated military operations. The resistance against US foreign policy and the Vietnam War had aftermath on the following military operations, the foreign policy and the home policy of the United States of America.
